Third opus by Roland White, the Consolations summon making’s momentum and solace through austerity, in both technical and spiritual aspects. Most was made within a few days of April 2021 in a tiny living-room of Marseille, departing from a collection of instruments that had not been really used until that time. All first improvised gestures were readily captured by a dictaphone to constitute a primitive material, neutral and exhaustive, in the sense that it would uncompromisingly make the essence of the pieces beyond any sort of assessment. From there, a state of abandoned critics, to the artistic effort of connecting the entities to a broader and more sensitive scheme — the act of sharing — we naturally meet other devices, means and spells, the ones of our time in general, and the ones of Roland White in particular.
